West Virginia University gymnast Anna Leigh has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week after achieving top scores on floor exercise at the NCAA Regional Championships. Leigh, a senior from St. Michael, Minnesota, scored a 9.875 and a 9.9 in the First and Second Rounds, respectively, finishing in the top standings on floor. She finished the season with an impressive National Qualifying Score of 9.91 and an average of 9.79.
In baseball, West Virginia had an outstanding week, going 5-0 with wins over Ohio State, Pitt, and Utah. The Mountaineers also swept a doubleheader against Utah, with notable performances from several players, including Logan Sauve, Gavin Kelly, Griffin Kirn, and Grant Hussey.
The gymnastics team faced tough competition against Maryland and finished second in the NCAA Pennsylvania Regional Championships. Despite finishing the season with a 4-14 record, the team qualified for its 44th NCAA Regional Championships appearance with a National Qualifying Score of 195.855. Anna Leigh, Karleigh DiCello, and Sophia Rice received All-Big 12 and All-Freshman Team honors.
West Virginia tennis had a tough week, losing matches against No. 15 Texas Tech and Colorado. Track and Field achieved two event wins at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational, with Lily Haught and the 4x400m relay team placing first in their events. Rowing will return to action at the George Washington Invitational, while the golf team will host the Mountaineer Invitational at the Pete Dye Golf Club.
