Mark Carter has been appointed as the new deputy executive director/COO of the Delaware Botanic Gardens at Pepper Creek (DBG), as announced by DBG president Ray Sander. This position has been created to strengthen the organization and transition from a volunteer-managed to a professional leadership structure. Carter was chosen for his exemplary record of building relationships, commitment to the environment, and success in fundraising.
Carter expressed his excitement to join the DBG team and work on building upon the existing garden. Executive Director Sheryl Swed praised Carter’s dedication to the community and natural resources, noting his previous involvement with DBG projects such as the Learning Garden sponsored by Dogfish Head Brewery. Carter will be instrumental in the launch of the new Annette Pennoni Meadow Pavilion, a venue for DBG programs and events.
