Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has proposed special visa incentives for high-profile foreign visitors, including billionaires and celebrities. In a recent directive, the PM urged ministries to work on policies for short-term visa exemptions and streamline visa approval procedures. This initiative aims to attract renowned artists, athletes, experts, scientists, and investors to Vietnam for tourism or international cooperation activities.
Since March 1, Vietnam has already granted visa-free travel for citizens of Poland, Czechia, and Switzerland, among other countries. The government has also extended visa exemptions for citizens of South Korea, Japan, and other nations until 2028. Additionally, Vietnam offers three-month tourist visas to citizens of all other countries and territories.
The country aims to attract 22-23 million foreign tourists by 2025, building on the 17.6 million visitors received last year. Prime Minister Chinh’s move to facilitate visa procedures for high-profile visitors could further boost tourism and strengthen international partnerships with experts and investors. This initiative aligns with Vietnam’s goal to enhance its global standing and promote cultural exchange and economic growth.
