West Virginia Senate Approves Legislation on Education Regulations and Child Welfare | Latest News, Sports, Employment Opportunities

West Virginia’s Senate is in the final stretch of its 2025 session, passing bills on education and child welfare. Efforts to weaken school-age immunization provisions were removed. The Senate approved House Bill 2755, allowing the state Board of Education to create rules for legislative review. Provisions of Senate Bill 705 were also added. Another bill, HB 2880, focused on parent resource navigators, was amended to include regulations for the licensure of programs for troubled youth. However, not all Senators were pleased with the lack of transparency regarding the amendment. Attempts to water down immunization laws in other bills were unsuccessful. Legislation requiring reporting of positive alpha-gal tests also passed without the addition of a religious vaccine exemption. Concerns were raised about the constitutionality of including multiple subjects in a bill. The session is set to wrap up at midnight on Saturday, with multiple bills yet to be finalized.
