Jaguars Draft West Virginia Guard Wyatt Milum: A Promising Addition to the Offensive Line
The Jacksonville Jaguars have bolstered their offensive line by selecting West Virginia guard Wyatt Milum with the 89th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, following a trade with the Houston Texans. Sports Illustrated awarded the selection a B- grade, highlighting Milum’s impressive collegiate career.
Milum, a 6’7", 313-pound powerhouse, started for four years at West Virginia, shifting from right tackle to left tackle, where he notably did not allow a single sack during his final three seasons. Recognized as a consensus All-American and named the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2024, Milum brings significant experience and talent to the Jaguars’ roster.
Despite his past at tackle, NFL analysts suggest that Milum’s 32⅛-inch arms might lead him to transition inside to guard at the professional level. Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone expressed confidence in Milum’s adaptability, stating, "We will let him play guard first and foremost." He emphasized the team’s commitment to fortifying the trenches, showcasing their focus on offensive line depth throughout the draft and free agency.
Gladstone further noted the importance of competition across the roster and highlighted Milum’s college experience, which he believes will benefit the existing team dynamic. "He brings a high level of experience and the intangible elements that our fan base values," he added.
As Milum steps into the league, fans and analysts look forward to seeing how his skills translate to the NFL. For continuous updates and insights on the Jaguars and the 2025 NFL Draft class, follow the team on social media at @JaguarsOnSI and @John_Shipley.
