West Virginia University Baseball Triumphs Over UCF in High-Scoring Clash

Orlando, Fla. – In a thrilling five-hour showdown, the West Virginia University baseball team triumphed over UCF with a score of 15-10 at John Euliano Park on Saturday evening. The Mountaineers improved to 36-5 overall and 15-3 in the Big 12, while the Knights fell to 23-19 and 6-14 in conference play.

The game started strong for WVU, who raced to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by freshman Gavin Kelly’s two-run single. UCF quickly countered, scoring four runs in the first and gaining the lead in the fourth. The back-and-forth battle continued, showcasing quirky plays, including a tie-scoring error by UCF’s pitcher in the seventh.

In a decisive eighth inning, WVU erupted for four runs, with junior Skylar King’s clutch double and a squeeze bunt from sophomore Armani Guzman proving pivotal. A late three-run homer from junior Ben Lumsden sealed the game. Senior Chase Meyer secured his team-leading eighth win, while junior Carson Estridge earned his fifth save.
