Press Release: The MedLegal Professor™ Launches Technology Lab for Workers’ Compensation Professionals
By Nikki Mehrpoo, The MedLegal Professor™
In a groundbreaking initiative, The MedLegal Professor™ has announced the launch of a national learning series, The MedLegal Professor’s Technology Lab™, aimed at transforming the landscape of workers’ compensation through ethical and responsible integration of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI).
Many professionals in the workers’ compensation system—ranging from adjusters to compliance officers—express feelings of frustration and confusion amidst rapid technological changes. The Lab addresses their concerns, welcoming those eager to learn and adapt. “If we want to protect the promise of workers’ compensation, we must modernize with integrity,” said The MedLegal Professor™.
Drawing from extensive experience in legal, educational, and advisory roles, the initiative seeks to tackle pressing questions about modernization: What does ethical modernization look like? Who is being left behind? Central to this discourse is the Grand Bargain, the historic promise between injured workers and the compensation system, which risks being undermined by fragmentation and operational inefficiencies.
The Lab promises practical, role-specific articles that demystify terms like AI, ML, and RPA, while emphasizing that technology should serve people, not replace them. Participants will learn how to implement AI responsibly, maintain their professional judgment, and leverage technology to restore purpose within the system.
The upcoming article, "AI 101 for Workers’ Compensation Professionals," will further lay the groundwork for understanding essential concepts without the jargon, ensuring all stakeholders can effectively contribute to the future of workers’ compensation.
