West Virginia Laborers Rising: Community Service Efforts Flourish
WHEELING, W.Va. — The West Virginia Appalachian Laborers District Council is stepping up its charitable engagements across the state through the Laborers Rising program. Recently, members participated in community cleanups organized by Morgantown City Councilor Louise ‘Weez’ Michael, with activities taking place nearly every week under the leadership of organizer Kyle Kull.
“Laborers Rising is a volunteer initiative we’ve been running for over a year,” Kull noted, highlighting the scope of efforts that extend beyond roadside cleanups. Members have contributed to food pantries, constructed playgrounds, and supported Special Olympics teams while also engaging in regular municipal meetings to plan initiatives.
Kull emphasized the positive impact of their work, stating, “It’ll look a little nicer when people are coming to the games at WVU or going to the hospital.” The laborers aim to enhance the city’s image while fostering community spirit.
Moreover, the council continues to blend volunteerism with job training at its Wood County facility, ensuring its members are prepared for various trades. By giving back to the community, Laborers Rising is making a lasting difference in the Mountain State.
