West Virginia Mountaineers Strengthen Offensive Line with Texas Transfer Malik Agbo
MORGANTOWN, WV – The West Virginia Mountaineers football program has bolstered its offensive line with the commitment of versatile Texas transfer Malik Agbo. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 300 pounds, Agbo entered the transfer portal on April 18, attracting interest from multiple programs, including California. He is the third offensive lineman to join the Mountaineers through the transfer portal since its spring opening.
Agbo brings a wealth of experience, having played in 32 games over three seasons at Texas, where he demonstrated versatility across multiple positions including offensive tackle, guard, and even jumbo tight end. A former four-star recruit from Washington, Agbo originally chose Texas over offers from prestigious programs such as Alabama and Michigan.
Throughout his career at Texas, Agbo saw time primarily as a reserve offensive lineman, accumulating 170 snaps in blocking roles. In the 2023 season, he excelled as a run blocker, earning grades of 73.9, 70.6, and 69.8, with zero sacks allowed during his 43 pass-blocking attempts. His adaptability and athleticism make him an appealing asset for the Mountaineers, as he prepares to compete for immediate playing time.
The addition of Agbo signifies West Virginia’s aggressive strategy to strengthen its offensive line, enhancing their depth and positional flexibility. With two seasons of eligibility left, Agbo has the opportunity to make a significant impact as the Mountaineers aim to fortify their front line.
As the coaching staff continues to assert its commitment to improving the team’s performance, the recruitment of talents like Agbo showcases the Mountaineers’ dedication to achieving future success on the field.
