West Virginia Mountaineers Triumph Over Kansas State in Key Victory
MANHATTAN, Kan. (May 10, 2025) – The No. 12 West Virginia University baseball team rebounded from a challenging series opener to secure a decisive 10-3 victory against Kansas State at Tointon Family Stadium Saturday afternoon. With this win, the Mountaineers improved their overall record to 40-9 and 19-5 in the Big 12, marking a tie for the program record for most wins in a season, previously set in 1994 and matched in 2023.
Senior Jace Rinehart shone at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Meanwhile, Kyle West made headlines with a grand slam, his eighth home run of the season, tying him with Rinehart for the team lead. On the mound, sophomore Chase Meyer delivered a solid performance in his first weekend start, while junior Ben McDougal earned his first win of the season, pitching 4.2 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit.
