Brian Kelly and LSU Tigers Gain Momentum in Recruiting
As the LSU Tigers continue their aggressive recruitment under head coach Brian Kelly, the program is making waves this offseason to attract top talent. Following their achievement of securing the No. 1 Transfer Portal Class in the nation, Kelly has successfully leveraged this momentum into the 2026 Recruiting Cycle, currently boasting the top recruiting class in the country. This formidable lineup is highlighted by Tristen Keys, the nation’s top-ranked wide receiver for the rising senior class.
With nine commitments so far, the Tigers are laying a strong foundation for future success. One player drawing significant attention is Dezyrian Ellis, a dynamic cornerback from Winnsboro, Louisiana. Despite showcasing his versatility by playing both ways in high school, Ellis is primarily being recruited as a cornerback. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound athlete had an impressive season, completing 115 of 206 passes for 2,189 yards and 31 touchdowns, alongside a productive rushing game of 827 yards and 10 touchdowns. His play earned him recognition as the District 2-4A MVP and Class 4A All-State quarterback.
However, Ellis is facing stiff competition from schools like Michigan State, West Virginia, and Houston, all vying for his commitment. Predictions favor LSU, fueled by Ellis’s admiration for former Tiger stars like Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase, whom he idolized growing up. The offer from LSU’s coaching staff, specifically from Corey Raymond and Blake Baker, has inspired Ellis to envision himself following in the footsteps of those elite players.
As the offseason progresses, LSU is expected to intensify its efforts to sign Ellis, enhancing their recruiting class and further establishing their presence in college football. Follow Zack Nagy on Twitter for ongoing coverage of the LSU Tigers.
