Press Release: Laron Dues Names Top Schools, WVU in Strong Contention
Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney athlete Laron Dues has revealed his top five schools, keeping West Virginia University (WVU) in the mix alongside Georgia Tech, Oregon, Indiana, and South Florida. The 2026 prospect and younger brother of 2025 WVU wide receiver signee Tyshawn Dues previously attended Hurricane High School in West Virginia before transferring to Florida.
Dues, who stands at 5-foot-9 and weighs 178 pounds, built a rapport with WVU’s former coaching staff, but his first offer came from the Mountaineers under new head coach Rich Rodriguez. “I found out about my offer after a conversation with Coach Rodriguez, and my reaction was excited considering it’s my home state,” Dues told WVSports.com earlier this year.
Dues is set to visit Morgantown for an official visit on June 6 and has expressed optimism about the program’s direction. “My opinion of them right now is great. I love the energy they bring,” he said. Known for his versatility, Dues is being recruited as both a wide receiver and defensive back and concluded a standout season with 81 tackles, five interceptions, and 25 pass breakups.
