Kentucky Wildcats Secure Commitment from 4-Star Small Forward Braydon Hawthorne
In an exciting development for the Kentucky Wildcats, 4-star small forward Braydon Hawthorne has officially committed to the program for the upcoming season. Hawthorne, a 6-foot-8, 175-pound prospect from Beckley, West Virginia, is highly regarded, ranked 33rd overall by 247 Sports, 35th by On3, and 81st by ESPN. He was previously committed to the West Virginia Mountaineers before reopening his recruitment to explore options among top programs. His final list included notable contenders such as Duke, Pitt, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia, but the Wildcats ultimately emerged victorious in the battle for his commitment.
Having visited Kentucky in mid-April, Hawthorne was a primary target for Pope and the coaching staff. Virginia Tech also attempted to entice him with a later visit, but it appears the allure of playing for the Wildcats was too strong.
Scouting reports on Hawthorne describe him as a late-bloomer with untapped potential. Known for his unique skill set, he exhibits strong wing capabilities, capable of creating his own shots in the half-court. Although he needs to add strength and improve his athleticism, his impressive length and instincts on the court are already notable.
