West Virginia Baseball Heads to NCAA Tournament as No. 2 Seed in Clemson Regional

West Virginia University’s baseball team has secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year, earning the No. 2 seed in the Clemson Regional. The Mountaineers, boasting a 41-14 record and an RPI of 28, will kick off their tournament journey on Friday at noon against No. 3 seed Kentucky (29-24, RPI 38), with the game set to air on ESPNU.

Clemson, hosting the regional, is the No. 1 seed and No. 11 national seed, facing No. 4 seed USC Upstate in the evening game. Notably, USC Upstate enters the regional as the hottest team, winning 9 of their last 10 games, while West Virginia hopes to bounce back after dropping 7 of their last 10.

Key players for WVU include Kyle West, who leads the team with a .354 batting average and 10 home runs. Jack Kartsonas and Griffin Kern anchor the pitching rotation. Meanwhile, Kentucky returns to the tournament for the third consecutive year, hoping to build on its successful season.

All-session tickets go on sale this Wednesday, with reserved seats priced at $60. The winner of the Clemson Regional will advance to face the winner of the Baton Rouge Regional in the Super Regionals.
