Mountaineers Prepare for NCAA East First Rounds in Jacksonville

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team is set to compete in the NCAA East First Rounds from May 28-31 at Visit Jax Track in Jacksonville, Florida. The competition kicks off on Thursday, starting with the women’s 800 meters at 7:50 p.m. ET, followed by the 10,000-meter semifinals at 9:10 p.m.

On Saturday, the Mountaineers will participate in several events, including the high jump semifinals at 3:30 p.m. and the 3,000-meter steeplechase quarterfinals at 5:40 p.m., culminating with the 5,000-meter semifinals at 8:10 p.m. West Virginia aims to qualify additional athletes for the 800-meter quarterfinals at 7:05 p.m.

Freshman Joy Naukot stands out as the No. 3 seed in the 10,000 meters, while graduate student Sarah Tait is ranked fourth in the steeplechase. The Mountaineers recently demonstrated their prowess at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, where Naukot and Tait secured titles in their respective events.
