After nearly a decade as team drivers for FedEx Ground, Angela Griffin and her husband, Scott, have transformed their challenging on-the-road experience into a beacon of support for fellow truckers. With extensive trucking backgrounds and impressive accident-free records, the Griffins faced an unexpected hurdle when they began driving together. Angela described the initial six months as “clueless” and reminiscent of starting over.
Determined to create a home on the road, Angela dedicated a year to enhancing their lifestyle, refining cooking methods, organizing their small space, and mastering time management. Recognizing that many truckers face similar challenges, she launched a YouTube channel, Simple Livin’, which now boasts over 17,000 subscribers. The channel provides practical advice on everything from cooking in a truck to managing life as a husband-and-wife driving team.
Many followers credit the channel with reigniting their passion for trucking, allowing them to tackle the lifestyle’s stresses. Angela emphasized that while trucking schools teach driving skills, they often overlook essential lifestyle management.
The Griffins have outfitted their truck with amenities like a mini fridge and an air fryer, transforming it into a comfortable living space. Angela makes sure to celebrate special occasions on the road to avoid missing out on family gatherings.
Now nearing the completion of their goal to pay off a mortgage for their dream log cabin in Maryland by age 40, the Griffins remain committed to sharing their insights. Additionally, they plan to focus on ministry once they retire. Their mission continues to empower truckers, proving that a fulfilling life on the road is possible. Angela stated, “Simple things make a powerful impact,” exemplifying their dedication to service and community through their channel.
