West Virginia University Welcomes Riley Makalusky to Women’s Basketball Roster
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s basketball head coach Mark Kellogg has announced the signing of Riley Makalusky, a versatile 6-foot-2 forward from Fishers, Indiana, to a grant-in-aid for the 2025-26 academic year.
"We are thrilled to add Riley to our program," Kellogg expressed. "Her ability to stretch defenses with her shooting and drive to the rim will bring a much-needed dimension to our team."
Makalusky joins the Mountaineers after a successful two-year tenure at Butler University, where she was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. During her freshman year, she led the BIG EAST Conference in three-point shooting with an impressive 46.1% average. Over her collegiate career, she has amassed 474 points, 160 rebounds, and 66 assists over 64 games, maintaining a 40.3% shooting percentage from the field and 38.0% from beyond the arc.
Last season, she played 32 games and started 23, averaging 8.1 points and 2.8 rebounds while logging approximately 24.5 minutes per game. Her standout performance included scoring 16 points against Georgetown. She had a strong freshman season as well, averaging 6.7 points and demonstrating her offensive prowess with a 44.1% field goal percentage.
Off the court, Makalusky, who intends to major in marketing, was a notable Indiana All-Star during her final two years of high school, scoring 1,067 points at Hamilton Southeastern High School. She is the daughter of Mike and Jenn Makalusky, and has one sister, Maya.
The WVU community eagerly anticipates Makalusky’s impact in Morgantown as the women’s basketball program looks to build on its success.
