West Virginia Mountaineers Advance to NCAA Super Regionals After Thrilling Victory

CLEMSON, S.C. – The West Virginia University baseball team has made history by reaching the NCAA Super Regionals for the second consecutive year, defeating Kentucky 13-12 in a nail-biting Clemson Regional Final on Sunday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

The Mountaineers improved their season record to 44-14, their best ever, and swept the regional. They will face either No. 6 LSU or Little Rock in the upcoming super regionals, with the final matchup set for Monday.

In a high-stakes game marked by dramatic momentum swings, West Virginia showcased an impressive offensive performance, including two six-run innings. Redshirt senior Griffin Kirn closed out the game, securing his first save of the season. Sophomore Armani Guzman earned Regional MVP honors, hitting 8-for-12 over the weekend, with standout performances from junior Ben Lumsden and freshman Gavin Kelly contributing significantly to the win.
