Canton, GA – The Sequoyah Regional Library System (SRLS) has officially launched its Summer Reading Program, featuring an exciting magic show that captivated attendees of all ages.

Held at the Canton branch, the event showcased illusionist John O’Leary, who dazzled the crowd with his captivating tricks and interactive performance. This year’s theme, “Magic of Reading,” aims to inspire a love for reading among children and families during the summer months.

The program encourages reading as a fun and enriching activity, with SRLS offering various events and resources throughout the summer. Library Director, Christine W. McCarthy, emphasized the importance of maintaining literacy skills during the break, stating, “We want to keep kids and teens engaged with books and reading even when school is out.”

Participants can register for the program online or at any SRLS branch. The initiative includes a variety of activities such as storytelling sessions, craft workshops, and special themed events, culminating in prizes for those who meet reading goals.

The library system also offers incentives to motivate young readers, including reading logs and rewards for completing challenges. McCarthy expressed excitement about the turnout for the launch event, noting, “It’s wonderful to see families come together and experience the joy of reading.”

The Summer Reading Program is set to run through August, promising ample opportunities for participants to explore new books and participate in fun, educational activities.
