WVU Baseball Trio Earns Academic All-District Honors
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team celebrated the achievements of three of its star players as seniors Brodie Kresser and Reese Bassinger along with junior Logan Sauve were named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Brodie Kresser, who boasts a 3.78 GPA, earned his degree in Sport Management, while Logan Sauve, a General Business major, holds a 3.59 GPA. Reese Bassinger, with a 3.58 GPA, completes the trio with a degree in Integrated Studies. This recognition marks the second Academic All-District selection for Kresser and Sauve, while it is Bassinger’s first.
To qualify for this honor, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.50 or higher, be at least a sophomore, and participate in at least 90% of the team’s contests or start in at least 66% of the games. Bassinger, an All-America finalist, will move on to the national ballot, with winners for the Academic All-America® teams to be revealed on July 1, 2025.
On the field, Kresser is hitting .287 with three home runs, 41 RBI, and a team-leading 50 runs scored. Sauve is a key player with a .289 batting average, eight home runs, and 36 RBI. Both players recently received recognition on the NCAA Clemson Regional All-Tournament Team.
Bassingser has been impressive as a relief pitcher, with a 7-1 record, five saves, and 43 strikeouts across 61 innings. Earlier this season, he also received an All-Big 12 honorable mention.
The trio marks the 12th, 13th, and 14th Academic All-District selections in the program’s history. Kresser and Sauve join an elite group as multi-time selections.
