HONEYWELL, JOHNSON MATTHEY, GIDARA ENERGY, AND SAMSUNG E&A JOIN FORCES IN SAF TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE

Industry Leaders Unite for Sustainable Aviation Fuel Revolution

Charlotte, N.C., June 5, 2025 — In a visionary move towards sustainable aviation, Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON), Johnson Matthey, GIDARA Energy, and SAMSUNG E&A have joined forces to create an innovative technology alliance aimed at producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from biomass and municipal solid waste. This collaboration leverages the proven Fischer-Tropsch (FT) production process to broaden feedstock options in response to the escalating global demand for SAF.

By integrating their expertise, the alliance promises to streamline the SAF production chain—from sourcing feedstock to delivering the final product—resulting in a reduction of over 15% in the timeline from feasibility studies to facility startups. Moreover, capital expenditures could decrease by up to 10%.

Each member contributes unique capabilities: GIDARA Energy excels in gasification and syngas production; Johnson Matthey offers advanced catalysts for fuel conversion; Honeywell provides cutting-edge process technology and digital automation; and SAMSUNG E&A supports with comprehensive engineering and project management expertise.

As the SAF industry grapples with limitations from traditional feedstocks, this alliance positions itself at the forefront of turning municipal waste into valuable energy sources, aligning with the International Energy Agency’s prediction that biofuels derived from waste will fulfill more than 40% of total biofuel demand by 2030.

Ken West, President and CEO of Honeywell Energy and Sustainability Solutions, emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing global energy challenges. Meanwhile, leaders from the other companies echoed sentiments on the critical need to fast-track projects, reduce costs, and unlock the potential of waste.

This pioneering alliance stands as a testament to the collective ambition and expertise required to transform energy systems for a sustainable future. For further details, visit Honeywell’s official website.
