In a thrilling display of power-hitting, LSU triumphed over West Virginia 16-9 in Game 1 of the NCAA Super Regional at Alex Box Stadium on Saturday. The Tigers showcased their offense by blasting three home runs, including two grand slams from shortstop Steven Milam and rightfielder Josh Pearson, leading LSU to improve its record to 47-15.

Derek Curiel shone at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a three-run homer and five RBIs, while left-hander Kade Anderson (10-1) earned the victory, striking out seven over seven innings despite challenging heat. "A great win for our team," said LSU coach Jay Johnson, praising his players for their resilience and performance.

West Virginia had briefly held a 1-0 lead, but LSU surged ahead, scoring seven runs in the fifth inning. The teams will meet again at 5 p.m. CT on Sunday, with LSU aiming for a spot in the College World Series for the 20th time in school history.
