Report: Nick Chubb Set to Join the Texans

Running back Nick Chubb may soon sign with the Houston Texans, as indicated by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. Chubb, 29, played only eight games for the Cleveland Browns last season after recovering from a season-ending knee injury sustained in Week 2. He recorded 332 rushing yards, three touchdowns, and caught five passes for an additional 31 yards and a touchdown before a broken foot ended his season early.

Despite having running backs like Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce, Woody Marks, and Dare Ogunbowale, the Texans have faced injury concerns, as both Mixon and Pierce missed games in 2024. Chubb was drafted in the second round by the Browns in 2018 and enjoyed a successful career, averaging over 5 yards per carry during his first six seasons. However, after the Browns selected two new running backs in the recent draft, it became clear that the franchise was moving away from Chubb.

Throughout his tenure with Cleveland, Chubb earned Pro Bowl honors four times and was named a second-team All-Pro in 2022, indicating his value as a player. If the physical check goes positively, Chubb’s signing with Houston could bolster their running game and provide a veteran presence in their lineup. His combination of experience and proven performance makes him an appealing option for the Texans, aiming to strengthen their roster amidst injury challenges.
