Chris Manriquez Returns to Cal State Fullerton as Vice President for Information Technology
Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) is set to welcome back alumnus Chris Manriquez as its new vice president for information technology and chief information officer starting August 1. With over 25 years of experience in higher education technology, including 16 years at CSUF, Manriquez brings substantial expertise to the role.
CSUF President Ronald Rochon expressed enthusiasm for Manriquez’s leadership: “We look forward to his leadership in advancing our technology infrastructure and services.” Manriquez, who most recently served in a similar capacity at California State University, Dominguez Hills, sees his return as a “full-circle moment.” He emphasizes his commitment to equity, innovation, and student success, citing CSUF’s vibrant community as inspiration.
In his new role, Manriquez will oversee critical areas such as academic technology, cybersecurity, and digital transformation, focusing on creating a future-ready, service-oriented digital environment. He aims to put people at the center of IT, strengthening partnerships across campus divisions.
Reflecting on his journey as a first-generation college graduate from Santa Ana, Manriquez is passionate about designing systems that empower students. “Our family’s story highlights the transformative power of public higher education,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of reducing barriers for all learners.
Manriquez’s extensive career at CSUF began in 1996, evolving through various positions, including manager for technical support and director of desktop computing. His leadership has driven initiatives in areas such as AI integration, cybersecurity, and project management.
As a recognized leader, Manriquez also contributes to professional boards, further underscoring his commitment to advancing technology in higher education. His return to CSUF signals a promising future for the university’s technology landscape.
