Industry Leaders Unite to Establish SAF Technology Alliance

Press Release: New Alliance Aims to Revolutionize Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production

In a significant step towards energy security and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production, four industry leaders—Honeywell, Johnson Matthey, GIDARA Energy, and SAMSUNG E&A—have announced a strategic partnership leveraging the Fischer-Tropsch (FT) production process. This joint technology offering is designed to enhance feedstock options for SAF, addressing the surging global demand for cleaner aviation energy.

The alliance streamlines project timelines and delivery by providing clients with a unified point of accountability, ensuring seamless communication and coordination throughout the SAF production process. The integrated and modular system is expected to accelerate project implementation, reducing the time from feasibility studies to facility startup by over 15% and capital expenditures by up to 10%.

Honeywell’s President and CEO Ken West emphasized the collaboration’s potential to meet energy demands, stating, “This innovative end-to-end SAF alliance demonstrates the power of collaboration.” As stakeholders seek to scale gasification and FT methods, the partnership will also enable the utilization of biomass and municipal solid waste as feedstocks, positioning them as viable alternatives to traditional resources.

Dr. Norbert Kamp, CEO of GIDARA Energy, praised the alliance’s commitment, pointing out, “We are not just providing a technical solution—we are helping clients and communities realize the potential of waste as a catalyst for a cleaner energy future.”

With the International Energy Agency projecting that biofuels from waste and non-food crops will meet over 40% of biofuel demand by 2030, this collaboration seeks to push the boundaries of conventional SAF production. Building on existing ties between Honeywell and Johnson Matthey, the four companies aim to spearhead innovations to enhance global energy security and meet the challenges of the evolving SAF sector.
