West Virginia Football Roster Changes Bring Promising Additions for Fall Season
As the spring transfer portal winds down, West Virginia football is shifting gears under the leadership of coach Rich Rodriguez. Following a busy winter period that saw a substantial influx of new talent, the Mountaineers have added 52 players this spring, though recent activity has slowed.

Despite an injury-hindered previous season, Knighton’s track record of 745 rushing yards and seven touchdowns underscores his potential to bolster the Mountaineers’ backfield alongside leading rusher Jahiem White.
At tight end, Grayson Barnes from Northern Illinois adds a reliable target, demonstrating versatility with 31 catches and four touchdowns last season. His capabilities may enhance Rodriguez’s offense, traditionally known for prioritizing blocking.
Defensive lineman Devin Grant, who previously saw action at Incarnate Word, is another noteworthy addition. His impressive performance, including 7.5 sacks last season, will help fortify the Mountaineers’ pass rush, an area of focus for defensive coordinator Zac Alley.
Lastly, offensive lineman Carson Lee offers significant versatility and experience. With the ability to play multiple positions, he could be a vital part of the protective front for the team’s yet-to-be-named quarterback.
